In collaboration with Atelier Bau, this project involved the conversion of an existing attic into a fully functional master suite, comprising a bedroom, bathroom, and study.
The primary design challenge was the transformation of a dark, underutilised space into a coherent and light-filled living environment. This was achieved through the introduction of a centrally positioned indoor terrace, which serves a dual purpose: structuring the open floor plan into distinct functional zones while improving natural light penetration throughout the level.
The bathroom is organised around a custom shower volume, which functions as the spatial centrepiece of the room. Its form and placement inform the layout of the surrounding space. A continuous deep blue polyurethane floor finish extends across the entire floor level, providing visual cohesion and a grounding counterpoint to the generous ceiling heights.
Wall finishes were specified in neutral tones throughout, ensuring that the key design elements — the shower volume, the floor finish, and the bedroom's central storage-and-seating unit — retain their visual clarity and spatial impact.
The result is a top-floor suite that is both functional in its organisation and considered in its material and spatial choices.
